Please join BAAP for our third meeting of the year on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 6:00PM for Applied Psychology in Education/Research. It is advised that attendees arrive at least 15 minutes before the 6:00 p.m. start time.

As a reminder, if you have not paid BAAP membership dues you can do so here. Membership levels include professional, student, as well as per-meeting attendance fees.

The meeting will focus on showcasing the work of applied psychologists in Education/Research. The speakers will start at 6:30 pm and networking will occur prior to the start as well as after the program.

There will be a panel of speakers of applied psychologists working in Education/Research. Each panelist will highlight one or two key aspects about their position, whether it is a current project, an effort, or an initiative. Furthermore, each panelist will discuss the advantages, challenges, or any particularly unique characteristics of working in Education/Research. The first portion of the meeting will be moderated and will be open to audience questions in the second. If you have any questions for the panelists, please bring them to the meeting.

Please welcome the following panelists:

Kathleen Mosier is a Professor of Industrial/Organizational Psychology at San Francisco State University. Dr. Mosier received her Ph.D. in I/O Psychology from UC Berkeley, and her training in human factors at NASA Ames Research Center. She is a Past President of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and was BAAP Treasurer from 2000-2003.  She has been conducting research in human factors and expert decision making for over 20 years. Her most recent work examines the impact of computers and automation on decision making in high-tech work environments such as aviation.

Dr. Ryan T. Howell is the director of the The Personality and Well-Being Lab, which focuses on understanding the factors, especially financial, that affect human happiness and the benefits of happiness to individuals. Howell's main research interest is developing statistical models to predict subjective well-being from financial
choices and daily activities.

Brenda Fellows, Ph.D., is an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist, President and CEO of Fellows Corporate Consortium, LLC, a global management consulting firm specializing in multinational corporate consultation. Dr. Fellows is an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of California, Berkeley – Haas School of Business, and an Adjunct Professor and Thesis Advisor within major international business schools.  Her current research centers on helping persons integrate the three intelligences (IQ, EQ, and SQ) to move from being tactical managers to strategic leaders.
